Description

The Western Alps Swisswool jacket completes the high alpine collection from Ortovox. It takes over the warming part of your mountain sports equipment and is an absolute must-have, especially at high altitudes or on glaciers.

A significant difference to conventional insulation jackets is its robust Pertex® Quantum outer material, with which it defies rugged rock and ice edges. The jacket achieves at least 50,000 abrasion cycles in the Martindale test and thus shines with excellent abrasion resistance even under a climbing harness. At the same time, a PFC-free impregnation keeps moisture and wind out as far as possible and the functional material scores with high breathability.

On the inside, a filling made from Swiss pure new wool makes perfect comfort. The soft fur of the sheep knows exactly how to deal with moody mountain weather. It regulates moisture and keeps you warm even when wet. It is also highly compressible and helps the insulating jacket to have a small pack size. Not to mention that the high-quality wool is a renewable, fairly traded raw material.

The filling quantity is adjusted according to the body zone for optimal heat distribution. Cold-sensitive areas are warmed with 90 g/m², while 60 g/m² is sufficient on the arms. This ensures an ideal weight-to-insulation ratio.

In terms of features, the Western Alps Swisswool jacket has everything needed at high altitudes. Its pre-shaped high-reach sleeves allow overhead movements without any problems, while the jacket sits firmly and securely on the body with its elasticated arm cuffs and adjustable hem. The storm hood can also be individually adjusted. The two-way zip and the raised front pockets are optimally compatible with a climbing harness.
